    In meditation terms this is  described as an altered state of consciousness.  

    The body responds to the dramatic reduction in stress, by initiating a process of self-healing.  Remarkable changes in brain-wave patterns occur.  All tenseness disappears. As a result there is an automatic lowering of the blood pressure; a slowing of the heart rate.

    Many reliable, objective studies, carried about by well-known institutions, such as Harvard Medical School, the University of California and prestigious English Universities, provide  conclusive proof  that  meditation, carried out in the correct manner, definitely does relieve stress.  It also  results in  important beneficial changes in the body. 

 

    What type of meditation should you use to reduce stress and improve your health?    

    This is a question for which I had to find an answer myself, some time ago, when I suffered  from a number of stress-related health problems that were causing me a great deal of mental and physical discomfort.   

    These problems were the direct result of stress, caused by over-work. In an ambition-driven attempt to become the leader in my field of business, I was  driving myself to the absolute  limit.

    My doctors diagnosed  my condition as a typical case of "burn-out".  They prescribed  tranquilizers.  I was reluctant to take them  however, because I was very much  aware of the health risks.

    Looking for a safe alternative to drugs, I started reading about Meditation and researched the subject in great depth. 

    It was clear to me that Meditation could be the solution I was looking for to give me the relief I needed. The problem however, was which method of Meditation to use?

    From the books I had read and my investigations, I discovered that were a great many different forms of  Meditation and many different techniques.

    There were a great variety of breathing techniques; different postures to adopt while meditating; different ways to focus  on a single thought; a number of different recommendations how to avoid distracting thoughts that  interfered with concentration. 

    The variations in technique were endless - and very confusing.

    It was difficult to decide which method to use. Which system should I  follow that would be the simplest to use; the most effective;    the one that would give me the quickest relief from stress?

    The problem of deciding which form  of meditation to use. 

    Faced with the choice of such a wide variety of different types of meditation, it was a difficult decision to make.  

    The first method I tried was very well publicized at the time  and becoming increasingly popular. 

    I found it to be  a very simple technique, easy to follow and I practiced using this method  regularly and conscientiously for several months. 

    Perhaps I expected too much and hoped for more immediate results, but I was very disappointed to find that it proved of very little help in relieving my stress.

    Problems with other meditation techniques. 

    After the disappointing results with the first method of meditation, I tried a number of others.  Some did help me to relax to some extent, but my stress problems continued.

    I experienced  problems of one type or another  with all the methods I tried.  A common  problem  with most methods,  was that there were no clear-cut instructions or guidelines  how to prevent intrusive thoughts from disturbing  my concentration.   

    One school of meditation advocated focusing  on a single thought. This I found extremely difficult to do. My mind kept wandering.  One thought would trigger off another. 

    Another system of meditation insisted  the mind  should be completely blank. This was just as difficult for me to achieve.  

    In spite of my disappointment with the methods I had tried, I was still convinced  meditation  could be the answer to my stress problems.  

    What I  wanted, was a more, practical, uncomplicated approach, free from confusing jargon, and unnecessary emphasis on mysticism. I wanted a system of meditation that worked!

    It became clear that in order to to achieve the results I wanted, it would be necessary  to make drastic changes to "traditional" forms of meditation. 

    I  needed a  meditation system that would lift the burden of stress off my back, provide me with a deep, relaxing  sense of well-being and alleviate the health problems that had caused me so much discomfort.  

      At last –a  solution for my stress  problems - a far more effective way to meditate.

    Finally, after struggling for many months  and experimenting with combinations of different meditation  techniques, I finally devised a much more  effective way to conquer stress. 

    It was completely different to the old traditional forms of meditation.

    Because vitality is  such an essential element in living a full, active, productive life, I  felt it appropriate to call  this new, far more effective method.   I call this unusual, completely original  form of meditation  “ My Vital Meditation” .
